Talobeeg Consulting Services is hosting Joint Meeting for all partners involved in the Kaabe Youth Empowerment Project, with participants arriving from Finland and Somalia. This project is being implemented in three districts of Somalia—Galkaio, Beletweyne, and Afgoe—by Talobeeg Consulting Services, African Solution, and Shabelle Consulting Services, respectively. Each of these partners collaborates closely with an organization based in Finland. Talobeeg Consulting Services with Puntland Community ry in Espoo, Shabelle Consulting Services with Suomen Eta Afrikan Tuki ry, and African Solution with Lieksan Somali Perhyhdistys ry.
The project is funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Finland through the Finnish Somali Network (FSN) to address high youth unemployment and the lack of technical and vocational education and training (TVET) in Somalia.
Other stakeholders, including the FSN program coordinator, are participating in the meeting virtually. The coordinator made her introductory remarks on the first day, followed by presentations and discussions on the meeting agenda.
The meeting agenda includes:
- Welcoming words and introductory presentations of participating NGOs
- Presentations and discussions of ongoing TVET courses and student selection in each location, comparing them to TVET standards
- Peer support discussions on improving teaching methods
- Visit to Talobeeg Consulting Services’s TVET school and teaching premises
- Internships
- Entrepreneurship initiatives, including the Mesensei App to encourage entrepreneurship
- Disability inclusion
- Sustainability and exit plan for the project interventions
- Other important topics and aspects of the project
The meeting will conclude on June 23, 2024, after which representatives of the partner organizations will return to their respective destinations.
